Carbon Fluxes in Sustainable Tree Crops: Field, Ecosystem and Global Dimension

چکیده

Carbon (C) budget at cropping systems has not only agronomic but also environmental relevance because of their contribution to both emissions and removals greenhouse gases (GHGs). Ideally, sustainable orchards are expected remove atmospheric CO2 a rate greater than that the (i) optimized biology system (ii) reduced on-site/offsite inputs sourced by technosphere. However, such computation might produce inconsistent results in turn biased communication on sustainability C accounting framework(s) used under unclear context. This study examined terms impact GHGs focusing its significance field, ecosystem global dimension analyzing some operational aspects limitations existing frameworks (e.g., net carbon balance (NECB), life cycle assessment (LCA)). Global orchard was discussed considering sequestration cropland as instructed Intergovernmental Panel Climate Change (IPCC). The uniqueness olive tree lifespan duration is within Product Environmental Footprint agrifood product. paper highlighted overlapping components among NECB, LCA IPCC need for an integrated scheme more comprehensive detailed mapping agriculture.

Spatio-Temporal Relationships between Optical Information and Carbon Fluxes in a Mediterranean Tree-Grass Ecosystem

Spatio-temporal mismatches between Remote Sensing (RS) and Eddy Covariance (EC) data as well as spatial heterogeneity jeopardize terrestrial Gross Primary Production (GPP) modeling. This article combines: (a) high spatial resolution hyperspectral imagery; (b) EC footprint climatology estimates; and (c) semi-empirical models of increasing complexity to analyze the impact of these factors on GPP ...

Carbon isotopes in terrestrial ecosystem pools and CO2 fluxes.

Stable carbon isotopes are used extensively to examine physiological, ecological, and biogeochemical processes related to ecosystem, regional, and global carbon cycles and provide information at a variety of temporal and spatial scales. Much is known about the processes that regulate the carbon isotopic composition (delta(13)C) of leaf, plant, and ecosystem carbon pools and of photosynthetic an...

Carbon fluxes in a young, naturally regenerating jack pine ecosystem

[1] Within the FLUXNET network of tower stations for performing long-term measurements of CO2 exchange between forest ecosystems and the atmosphere, most research has focused on mature forests that are strong carbon sinks. Nevertheless, it is just as valuable to quantify fluxes from recently disturbed forests so that we can recognize and predict the impact of disturbance on carbon fluxes. We me...

Recovery of ecosystem carbon fluxes and storage from herbivory

The carbon (C) sink strength of arctic tundra is under pressure from increasing populations of arctic breeding geese. In this study we examined how CO2 and CH4 fluxes, plant biomass and soil C responded to the removal of vertebrate herbivores in a high arctic wet moss meadow that has been intensively used by barnacle geese (Branta leucopsis) for ca. 20 years. We used 4 and 9 years old grazing e...

Global Carbon Monoxide Fluxes : Inappropriate Measurement Procedures

Minamata patients in Japan were found to have middlebut not lowfrequency deficits (high frequencies were not tested) with little or no constriction of visual fields (16). Although deficits in peripheral vision, especially constriction of visual fields, may be the most conspicuous and extensive visual lesion in methylmercury poisoning, other visual changes seem to occur at the same time and poss...
